So there’ve been a lot of stuff going on with me lately. I got a new overnight position and have a crazy nocturnal schedule now. I also spent the last few days moving and handling a bunch of stuff, which really killed my Internet and comic time but I somehow managed.
Probably the biggest change, as some of you may have noticed, is saying goodbye to my beautiful cat today. I’ve had her for nine years this month, currently half my lifetime. After losing my home I was forced to move to some place in the middle of nowhere, and everyone seems to be against pets, so I couldn’t take her with me. It was truly one of the hardest things I’ve had to do, and I feel for anyone out there whose ever had to give up a pet. If anyone’s ever been to a local pet shop, particularly the big names like Petco and Petsmart, then you’ve probably seen the sad little kitties meowing at someone to take them home. If anyone’s ever felt sorry for them, then you’ve probably never been to the regular shelters where they keep the pets most of the time. It truly was a horribly sight, seeing all those poor little things sticking their paws through the cages hoping you’d take them home and save them, and my baby’s one of them now. She clinged to me tighter than ever before and I will always remember her and hope she remembers the fun times we had instead of thinking I abandoned her.
So yeah, if anyone’s wondering why I’m not as whimsical as I usually am, you know why. But the show must go on. These comics aren’t just something I do in my free time. I consider each and every one of them important work and very serious business. There shall always be funnies for those looking for a laugh. I’m sure those of you who care more of the behind the scenes work and such will still appreciate knowing how much I’m going through to get you your comics. Neither depression nor lack of stable Internet will keep me from my loyal fans who got Fruit Incest where it is today and will hopefully continue to move us onwards.
Also, to those of you who seem to be managing fine in this world of failing economies, there’s no harm in considering adopting a pet. You never know when you might find a cute little thing who was stuck without a home and left behind due to cruel fate that needs your help. You might even find someone as cute as this little angel.
Take care, sweet Amber. Your mommy misses you.
