The police still exist in this town, even if we haven’t seen much of our sole named detective and chief. The world of crime tends to be a bit OP in the FIniverse, unfortunately, but they still deal with more regular big crimes when they’re not on screen. They do good enough.

I would imagine they also have many fines to issue for destructive shenanigans.
If the stuff on the desk is the extent of their investigation, it’s not surprising they’re having trouble making progress.
And just to be picky, the proper spelling is “dammit” (or “damn it”, as two words, which the former is a contraction of). The more you know.
