For those not familiar with Project wonderful, their ads function by having people place bids on your ad space and from there it’s just plain capitalism and auctioning. A little over a month ago though the wonderful people over at Project Wonderful redid their servers so that there was now geotargetting. Now, instead of one ad to mess with, I have one adspace with four geographical servers, one of the US, one for Canada, one for European countries, and another for everywhere else. This was an interesting idea for some, but for those struggling to get attention, like me, it was a pretty bad move.

Our American audience may not be aware of this change, since not much changed for them, but most of the time my other three servers are completely empty, so my poor Canadian friends and everyone else is forced to stare at an ugly “your ad here” box. Well, not anymore. Everyone enjoy our new default ad image. I took the liberty of showing off the American version, since that one probably wont be seen by anyone anytime soon.

So what does this mean to you? Probably nothing, but it’s important to me for two reasons. One, the empty ad boxes I couldn’t even see were nagging at my OCD counter. Two, I wouldn’t be surprised if I lost some potential new readers who saw the empty box and assumed I was incompetent, unpopular, or just plain unprofessional for not having an actual ad in my ad box.

I also have a message for all you businesspeople out there. In case you weren’t aware of my empty status outside of the bustling American enterprise, I’ve got some free space for anyone willing to get their place known a bit more. With no one bidding on my other servers, it’s not difficult to get a $0 bid put up on the site and get you some free publicity and make me seem more competent and busy. This is especially true for my poor European audience. I don’t think they’ve had a single ad in over a month!

So everyone be sure to look things over if any of this interests you, and remember, love your lolis folks.
