Simone is a tricky history in the Santa lineage nobody really likes talking about. It’s not certain what made her become less stable over time, but it eventually reached the point where she unfortunately became a serious liability to Christmas as well as the safety of everyone involved.
Most of the controversy came from after she was forced to step down. Simone had selected her son Simon to take her place, but given her more recent history the Elves went with a different option. Simone’s brother Silas became the new Santa, and Simon mysteriously vanished shortly afterward (ironically implying he wouldn’t have been a very good Santa to begin with).
Simone died before being released from the mental health institute sadly, but she was sane enough to enjoy more visits from friends and family during her final years. Her son Simon eventually returned as well, having confronted Silas during his last year of Santa, but the brief encounter was ignored until the year afterward where he met Silas’s daughter, Sarah. Oh, but I’m getting ahead of myself…
