Anyone versed in Christmas lore would obviously remember the sacred tradition of giving the successor you’ve chosen a candy cane tied to a rose to signify you want them to be the next Santa, so I won’t go into that tired bit of trivia.
Although Sylvester was big on tradition and keeping them in the family, neither of his children were very interested in Elf business. His granddaughter was a big fan though, and served under Santa Sally, who happily brought it all back to the original North Pole family. This was much to the dismay of Sierra here, the Elf with the longest tenure in the branch and a promising bet on future Santa for many people. She took it all in stride and continued helping out young Simone though, cause she was never in it for the glory. Although she did wanna try out the coat once, just to see what it was like.
And if you’re wondering about the plucky young lad with Simone here, he is indeed the future husband of future Santa Simone. The two had a lovely partnership and a promising future. According to her, at least. In real life he had a lot of gambling debts and ran out after hearing she was pregnant. She didn’t always get the support she needed…
