Fruit Incest: Despite everything, it’s still here.

Happy Happy Cookie Time

And so we end 2011 with something big. First with the good stuff. I’m still accepting random drawing requests on account of me being bored, and I’m ready to take my one week annual break for now. I’ll be back with comics in January, so look forward to that you loyal fans. All four of you.

Onto serious stuff, I know I’ve asked for help with more views before, but now I’m really starting to want some real audience points. After drawing literally every character I’ve come up with proper and having my third Christmas special, I really feel like I’ve gone beyond the point where I can settle for less than 40 views a day. Unfortunately most of you know how anti-social I am. Getting page views is hard work though.

Take ads as an example. From experience I’ve learned that most people don’t click on them unless you have random half naked women on them, and then there’s those who block ads altogether. The only way to have ads be profitable is if you put them all over the place, and in really popular sights, which could easily cost me $10 a day per site. Ads are expensive! Getting attention is expensive!

But none of this is new. I try to get my name out there, but I was never good at that. Seriously, any help out there? Anyone?

Anyways, I hope everyone enjoys the lingering Christmas and has a happy New Years. Fruit Incest will do it’s best, but no matter how desperate I get, there will always be more! Everyone love your incestuous fruits and lolis!

You Can’t Fire Me, I’m Santa!

November 26th, 2011 | by Miss Hedgey

With all the spare holidays out of the while it’s getting to be that time where fake commercial Christmas is replaced with genuine Christmas spirit, and I obviously have special plans for everyone. Our good friend Sarah is getting a bit of a break this year (or is she?*) and instead we’re gonna look at the many historical Santas of the past.

Of course, I absolutely knew my scanner wouldn’t like the format I chose for this month’s comics, so I have no idea if I’ll just have to bear with the crap quality or switch to slightly less crappy digital comics (which are more difficult now because I now have less tables to work on and my new bedsheets make my laptop overheat, making it difficult to find a decent workspace**) but we’ll see how it works out.

Everyone have a fun December cause I’ll be doing my best to do it right this year once more. Also, as a special treat I’m thinking of doing another random free-for-all sketch request bonanza like I did in October, so if you want me to draw anything (as long as it’s not stupid***) feel free to ask!

Everyone have a Happy Pants and enjoy the festive season, cause we’re going into loli-loving overdrive.

*Yes she is.
**I drew the last comic surrounded by bread crumbs…
***Oh who am I kidding, the stupider the better!

Well that was one anniversary we just had, and as promised, I drew those special requests from you lot, all four of you. There wasn’t much else going on, so I’ll just thank everyone for reading my mediocre comics and hope I’ll have better content for the third anniversary of meaningless pigeons.

Fruit Incest could always use more readers and more feedback, so feel free to welcome my lovely work into your idea holes and gimme your best shot. For now though it’s time to enjoy the niceties of November, and to make sure we be loving our lolis.

Cream Bun Anniversary

October 1st, 2011 | by Miss Hedgey
Posted In: Juice

So, some of you might know that last year I celebrated the Fruit Incest anniversary with a month long Halloween special. There’s no way I can do that on a yearly basis, so this year I’ll stick to one anniversary comic. Still, I kind of set the standard pretty high for a badly drawn webcomic that can’t even get more than 40 individual views a day, so this year I’ll do something special for you dedicated fans who know when to check the Cocktail section. I’m not good enough for commissions, but I can still take requests, so this year I’ll draw anything requested in the comments for this post for the rest of the month, so go ahead! Give me more work! I’ll draw anything you’d like!

So that’s that. I’m sorry I couldn’t do anything more professional this year, but this isn’t so bad, right? Right? Well let’s all have a fun October and love our lolis.

Our Courage Must Pull Me Through

Well, our last chapter in the second Pokemon special is through. I know I’ve dug myself into a corner since I’ll basically have to do this every year now, but I couldn’t care less cause I love my Pokemon! For those who forgot or didn’t read earlier, I’ve uploaded all the FIth gen Pokemon onto DeviantART (Or did I?). Hope you enjoyed this year’s special, and our Pokemon lovelies should be back by next August.

And with that over, it’s back to our usual FI goodness. I don’t usually do this, but anyone reading this go ahead and tell me your favourite Fruit Incest characters, cause I can’t decide who to jump back into the FIniverse with right now. Plus, it would be nice to see who’s getting love and who needs more.

I hope everyone’s had fun and is ready for more fun, cause we need all the fun we get if we wanna love our lolis.

More Pokerespect For Me

It’s been a year since I last drew a Pokemon special, so to celebrate, I’m doing not one, but TWO special things! First up is the comic you probably noticed by now. This time I’ll be using the actual Pokemon canon, but who knows, we might see our old FIth gen friends in the future. For now, enjoy the antics of what has become my favourite gym leader.

Second, and you guys better appreciate this. I’ve made up some Pokemon concentrate. Yep, you get a complete list of all the FIth gen Pokemon. Okay, maybe not complete. I didn’t include legendaries. That’s for the future. Plus, I’m free to add some if I ever want to for some bizarre reason. Unfortunately, I’m not going to add about 40 pieces of concentrate to my server at once. Especially since no one ever checks the Concentrate section. So this time I’m using a deviantART account I made just for this occassion. At the moment I have no more plans for that thing, but any deviants out there who wouldn’t mind seeing some non Fruit Incest related works just let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

I spent several hours total working on this over the past few months, and as I’m working on these current comics I also have a lot of other work to do, so you guys better appreciate. I’m trying desperately to get FI more well known, so if you haven’t told your friends yet, why haven’t you whore’d me out to them? Nag your friends, for it is the only way they will enjoy my muffiny goodness. I need you, and together we can bring success to the Fruit Incest lineage. Wont someone think of the lolis, and love them also.

It’s Concentrate Time!

No one really cares about the extras, and even if they did, they’re out of the way where no one really notices. My plan was to make some actual artwork every once in a while, but it seems all I can make reliably is tiny random sketches. It makes me wonder, if I’m just going to make tiny sketches, maybe I should do those more often instead of putting larger works on hold, but I can’t exactly clutter up space with tiny sketches out of nowhere that take me five minutes, can I? So what should I do? Should I post pictures elsewhere? How professional would it be if I had links to random Photobucket or Deviantart pictures? I don’t even use any of those things really. Conundrum.

Then there’s Cocktails. I hardly have anything to write, so what if I wrote completely unrelated stuff. But wouldn’t that be more appropriate somewhere else? If I made a separate blog or place to post my quicker random sketches, it could expose Fruit Incest to a bigger audience, and you know how I like complaining about my lack of success. Maybe I could post more professional writings elsewhere and leave the Cocktail section for FI related news. It would certainly be better than making wordy updates like this out of nowhere wouldn’t it? Should I continue asking hypothetical questions here, or actually put something relevant here? I know hardly anyone reads these, let alone pitch in, but suggestions would be nice. I suggest you all remember to love your lolis though.

Half Finished Wonders

Alright, this printer/scanner thing is just getting more and more frequent and I’m really beginning to hate it now. I keep trying to figure it out and work around it, but whenever I try to outsmart my scanner it surprises me with another cropped up image. Despite this though, every once in a while I look at a comic and think “Oh there’s no way it’s going to accept this without ruining the quality,” and it happens without fail every time. Just what’s going on that I can only predict when things go wrong?

Today I drew a comic and noticed the sketch was gorgeous. I then began to think about how I’ve gotten better at sketching, but my inking still isn’t perfect. I think my scanner problem has something to do with how I ink. Sometimes when I trace over my sketches I get nice crisp lines. Other times I get grainy and thick lines that cover up the whole sketch lines. When my scanner detects this, I don’t know why, but it takes these bad quality lines and makes them worse. Should I start using professional inking pens instead of just making thicker darker lines with my pencil? Should I just upload sketches? Maybe if I sketched on paper and inked on my computer things would be easier, but I’m at a loss.

Basically, this post is me apologizing for the quality of comics lately. Most of you probably don’t even notice or care, which I can’t tell if that’s a good thing or not, but every time this happens I know that I have a much better quality comic right in front of me and I can’t share it with the fans who kept me going this long, and that’s just not good enough. I guess I’m just sick of venting in the comic blogs so frequently and needed an official Cocktail post once and for all, but this is just ridiculous. Remember to love your lolis everyone, cause they sure need it.

Hold Tight Everynyan

Hi everybody! Dr. Ms. Hedgehog here letting you all know I’m gonna be a bit busy lately. No, it’s nothing serious, I just decided to make myself some to-do lists and finish stuff I’ve been meaning to do for ages. Some of this stuff I wrote down over a year ago and never even considered actually doing them. Well that’s a big no-no. This month I have a lot of reading I’ve been meaning to catch up on, and I have a deadline too, so I can’t slow down! So if you don’t mind my comics being a little lazier than usual, things should get back to speed around the midpoint of May.

Also of importance is last month’s to-do list, which consists of a lot of drawing. You may have noticed a couple new Concentrate, but not much. That’s because I’ve got a certain project I started last year but never quite finished, so I’m getting around to that. I’ve got dozens of drawings sketched out and halfway finished, so that means you may see some results soon! I’m sure not many people will care once it’s out, but it will be a big accomplishment for me, so if I have time this month I can get started on the second half of said project. In the meantime, the one or two of you who care enough to guess can feel free to do so. My deadline for this project is August though, so I’m not in that big of a rush compared to last month with the whole LOG thing going on simultaneously.

As usual, Fruit Incest needs more numbers! Numbers that taste as good as that coffee cake smell I’m smelling even though we don’t have any coffee cake here. Odd. Well, feel free to commute and discuss ideas. Hopefully enough people know how to tell when there’s a new Cocktail post. I go to the trouble of changing the menu every time and it still goes unnoticed. Probably because I never have anything to say and when I do it’s a giant ladder of text. Sorry about that. But hang onto your nonexistant Fruit Incest memoraphilia and remember to love your lolis, cause it’s go time!

Wally and Nelly’s Excellent Adventure

April 6th, 2011 | by Miss Hedgey
Posted In: Juice

It’s story time! S-T-O-R-Y? Cause I gotta! Wally’s always a favourite here at Fruit Incest (and if he’s not then you don’t get any ice cream), so it’s about time I gave him a nice multi-parter of his own. To be honest, I planned to draw this around this time last year, but I ended up putting it off and then eventually put it on hold once it was getting too close to the Pokemon storyline’s planned debut. Since FIth Gen had a deadline I drew that instead and saved this one for later, and after several holidays and special events it’s finally time for LOG! So everyone get ready for some finny fun with our favourite whale! And once we finish that Free Willy marathon we can head on over to Fruit Incest to read some comics!

In other news, I got what I presume is my first link from a proxy site. There goes my answer of whether schools allow a site named Fruit Incest or not. More importantly though some delusional child is wasting his or her time reading my pointless comics online, which they can easily read when they get home, and choosing not to use their time to focus on classwork and studying while simultaneously making a mockery of their school and their education system. Cool! Keep up the reading and love your lolis folks.

Clean Up Clean Up

So, I’ve made a new logo. I’ve been meaning to do that for a while. I know I say that with every Cocktail post, but I’m getting things done finally. I really should get around to finishing up those Concentrate stuff. Feel free to post random stuff I’ve mentioned before I never got around to or you want me to finish. I have to do stuff now while I can because of my next announcement.

Something’s gonna happen! I’ll post again once it does but for now, here’s a vague hint for what it is in the meantime. Have fun guessing those of you who read this before next week. I really should update more stuff so my hint that there’s a new Cocktail post will be easier to notice. Well for now, remember to love your lolis.

Wow, it’s been a while since I posted stuff. Really, you don’t need to know how crazy depressing my life is. I made this place to spread joy, in awkwardly named comic form. At the moment I’m fine just making three comics a week, but since it’s been a while, I feel I need something. Any suggestions would help, and even if you have no suggestions, a simple hi would be nice. Questions? Random exclamation! Anything works, just need to get me off this blog writing slump. Can’t let the Cocktail section go to waste any more.

So be sure to drop in and show your love, for Fruit Incest and for your lolis.

Brand New Acre

February 19th, 2011 | by Miss Hedgey

Well it has been a big week for me. Some of it was very very noticeable, some of it was just me crying in the corner eating ice cream, but things are finally back on track. After a lot of businessy stuff, I got switched to a new host and got the site back up to normal…..sort of.

As of right now most of the comics are gone. Don’t worry, I have them all on my computer, I just have to reupload them. The problem is I have to rename them to match the Comicpress layout and all that junk, so I’m sure you’ll understand if I wait a bit for that, but I’ll get them all up as soon as possible. The site itself is doing okay, aside from a few differences here or there, but no one seems to notice the smaller ones and I’ve been through too much to care anymore, so let that damn miscolored menu stay, I’ll take care of it later.

Aside from the missing comics being replaced, feel free to point out any things that might be all wacky since I’ll probably be back to being all OCD in the morning. For now though, it’s up, and I just have to tediously rename everything so I could drag and drop them all. Wish me luck, and wish some extra luck for those lolis.

Edit: Aaaaaand we’re done!

So Here's The Plan

February 5th, 2011 | by Miss Hedgey
Posted In: Juice

So I just finished my 201st comic and I have to be honest, I’m not feeling any sense of accomplishment. Doesn’t help that I’ve been too sick to even eat all day today. Anyways, I’ve been having a rough few months, so I just want to say thanks to those loyal few fans who’ve been following me. I’ve decided that if I spent the rest of my life drawing comics and you’re still my only fans, well I’m okay with that. So, even though most of you never see it, I doubt I’ll be doing any perky advertisement gigs to get Fruit Incest more well known. I need a break. Drawing comics has become too stressful and I need to focus on simply making them for fun.

The reason I’m making this post is because I noticed I never even made any special Cocktail for my 200th comic and also because I just want everyone to know that I probably wont be breaking free of my cheap noodle and pop tarts diet any time soon, so if I ever start talking about food more than usual you’ll know why. Have a wonderful read on Fruit Incest and remember to love your lolis folks.

Inefficiency Protocol Engaged

January 8th, 2011 | by Miss Hedgey
Posted In: Juice

Congratulations to me, I believe I’ve found out why my scanner’s been giving me so much trouble. And wouldn’t you know it, I don’t figure it out until after I find out no one notices a difference in the picture quality. Hooray!

Anyways, I’m not 100% sure, but I believe the problem with my scanner is that my art has improved too much. No, no, don’t run away, I’m not turning egomaniacal, I’m being serious. When I started out drawing my biggest problem was smudged and old paper which I had to clean up and touch up on my computer to make presentable. Over time, I got less sloppy and learned to keep my paper clean and avoid sketchy lines, leaving my comics crisp and clean. It wasn’t until I got new paper that this problem became much more frequent though. My only guess is that my scanner used to think my old comics were junk or something and scanned every single flake of dust on my paper just to make sure it got what I wanted, but now that my drawings are clear and it knows what to pick up, it just goes for that.

To test this out I decided to be less careful than usual with my current comics. I let my hands smudge and dent the paper slightly, I made extra sketchy lines more reminiscent of my older comics, and I did minimal erasing. Sure enough, it became the first comic in over a month to not be scanned with extra contrast and intensity, so I may be onto something. So what does this mean? It means if I draw messy my scanner detects every stray pencil mark and forces me to clean it up, but if I draw nice and clean then my scanner politely ignores the smudges and goes right for the comic and cleans it up for me. This is good right? …right?

Well alas, every silver spoon lines werewolves (or something like that). If you look at my most recent comics you may notice two things. One, things are randomly faded out ever so slightly. This bugs me to no end because sometimes I have to go in and redo darker lines on top of the old ones because the scanner didn’t pick them up. I’m grateful I no longer have to erase things digitally, but now I’m left with random empty spaces. I’ve learned to draw lines thicker to avoid this for the most part, but it bugs me how I have to change my drawing method to meet the demands of my picky scanner.

Second, certain things seem darker. In response to the above problem, I’ve had to make really dark lines. This is especially apparent with things that are shaded in. If I don’t go over shaded in spots like five times and make them a LOT darker than they need to be, then they end up looking like chalky zigzag lines instead of a solid black colour. Having panel edges appear slightly thinner or faded out is one thing, but this looks absolutely hideous.

So in the end, I’ve just replaced one piece of work with more work. The good news is no one seems to mind the scanner’s auto-editing, so I guess you guys are more trustworthy of technology than paranoid ol’ OCD me. And on the plus side, making things darker as I draw them is a lot less work than going over comics and erasing smudges after I draw them. Still, I just don’t like the look of it, so I’ll see what to do. For now, you can rest easy that I have one less thing to rant about, meaning from now on I’ll be forced to blog about something more interesting. Hooray.

This lengthy explanation of useless problems that have no real solution has been brought to you by lolis. Love them.
