Fruit Incest: For when you run out of better things to do.

Hold Tight Everynyan

Hi everybody! Dr. Ms. Hedgehog here letting you all know I’m gonna be a bit busy lately. No, it’s nothing serious, I just decided to make myself some to-do lists and finish stuff I’ve been meaning to do for ages. Some of this stuff I wrote down over a year ago and never even considered actually doing them. Well that’s a big no-no. This month I have a lot of reading I’ve been meaning to catch up on, and I have a deadline too, so I can’t slow down! So if you don’t mind my comics being a little lazier than usual, things should get back to speed around the midpoint of May.

Also of importance is last month’s to-do list, which consists of a lot of drawing. You may have noticed a couple new Concentrate, but not much. That’s because I’ve got a certain project I started last year but never quite finished, so I’m getting around to that. I’ve got dozens of drawings sketched out and halfway finished, so that means you may see some results soon! I’m sure not many people will care once it’s out, but it will be a big accomplishment for me, so if I have time this month I can get started on the second half of said project. In the meantime, the one or two of you who care enough to guess can feel free to do so. My deadline for this project is August though, so I’m not in that big of a rush compared to last month with the whole LOG thing going on simultaneously.

As usual, Fruit Incest needs more numbers! Numbers that taste as good as that coffee cake smell I’m smelling even though we don’t have any coffee cake here. Odd. Well, feel free to commute and discuss ideas. Hopefully enough people know how to tell when there’s a new Cocktail post. I go to the trouble of changing the menu every time and it still goes unnoticed. Probably because I never have anything to say and when I do it’s a giant ladder of text. Sorry about that. But hang onto your nonexistant Fruit Incest memoraphilia and remember to love your lolis, cause it’s go time!

Wally and Nelly’s Excellent Adventure

It’s story time! S-T-O-R-Y? Cause I gotta! Wally’s always a favourite here at Fruit Incest (and if he’s not then you don’t get any ice cream), so it’s about time I gave him a nice multi-parter of his own. To be honest, I planned to draw this around this time last year, but I ended up putting it off and then eventually put it on hold once it was getting too close to the Pokemon storyline’s planned debut. Since FIth Gen had a deadline I drew that instead and saved this one for later, and after several holidays and special events it’s finally time for LOG! So everyone get ready for some finny fun with our favourite whale! And once we finish that Free Willy marathon we can head on over to Fruit Incest to read some comics!

In other news, I got what I presume is my first link from a proxy site. There goes my answer of whether schools allow a site named Fruit Incest or not. More importantly though some delusional child is wasting his or her time reading my pointless comics online, which they can easily read when they get home, and choosing not to use their time to focus on classwork and studying while simultaneously making a mockery of their school and their education system. Cool! Keep up the reading and love your lolis folks.

Clean Up Clean Up

So, I’ve made a new logo. I’ve been meaning to do that for a while. I know I say that with every Cocktail post, but I’m getting things done finally. I really should get around to finishing up those Concentrate stuff. Feel free to post random stuff I’ve mentioned before I never got around to or you want me to finish. I have to do stuff now while I can because of my next announcement.

Something’s gonna happen! I’ll post again once it does but for now, here’s a vague hint for what it is in the meantime. Have fun guessing those of you who read this before next week. I really should update more stuff so my hint that there’s a new Cocktail post will be easier to notice. Well for now, remember to love your lolis.

Wow, it’s been a while since I posted stuff. Really, you don’t need to know how crazy depressing my life is. I made this place to spread joy, in awkwardly named comic form. At the moment I’m fine just making three comics a week, but since it’s been a while, I feel I need something. Any suggestions would help, and even if you have no suggestions, a simple hi would be nice. Questions? Random exclamation! Anything works, just need to get me off this blog writing slump. Can’t let the Cocktail section go to waste any more.

So be sure to drop in and show your love, for Fruit Incest and for your lolis.

Brand New Acre

Well it has been a big week for me. Some of it was very very noticeable, some of it was just me crying in the corner eating ice cream, but things are finally back on track. After a lot of businessy stuff, I got switched to a new host and got the site back up to normal…..sort of.

As of right now most of the comics are gone. Don’t worry, I have them all on my computer, I just have to reupload them. The problem is I have to rename them to match the Comicpress layout and all that junk, so I’m sure you’ll understand if I wait a bit for that, but I’ll get them all up as soon as possible. The site itself is doing okay, aside from a few differences here or there, but no one seems to notice the smaller ones and I’ve been through too much to care anymore, so let that damn miscolored menu stay, I’ll take care of it later.

Aside from the missing comics being replaced, feel free to point out any things that might be all wacky since I’ll probably be back to being all OCD in the morning. For now though, it’s up, and I just have to tediously rename everything so I could drag and drop them all. Wish me luck, and wish some extra luck for those lolis.

Edit: Aaaaaand we’re done!

So Here's The Plan

by Miss Hedgey on February 5, 2011 at 8:47 PM

So I just finished my 201st comic and I have to be honest, I’m not feeling any sense of accomplishment. Doesn’t help that I’ve been too sick to even eat all day today. Anyways, I’ve been having a rough few months, so I just want to say thanks to those loyal few fans who’ve been following me. I’ve decided that if I spent the rest of my life drawing comics and you’re still my only fans, well I’m okay with that. So, even though most of you never see it, I doubt I’ll be doing any perky advertisement gigs to get Fruit Incest more well known. I need a break. Drawing comics has become too stressful and I need to focus on simply making them for fun.

The reason I’m making this post is because I noticed I never even made any special Cocktail for my 200th comic and also because I just want everyone to know that I probably wont be breaking free of my cheap noodle and pop tarts diet any time soon, so if I ever start talking about food more than usual you’ll know why. Have a wonderful read on Fruit Incest and remember to love your lolis folks.

Inefficiency Protocol Engaged

by Miss Hedgey on January 8, 2011 at 10:07 PM

Congratulations to me, I believe I’ve found out why my scanner’s been giving me so much trouble. And wouldn’t you know it, I don’t figure it out until after I find out no one notices a difference in the picture quality. Hooray!

Anyways, I’m not 100% sure, but I believe the problem with my scanner is that my art has improved too much. No, no, don’t run away, I’m not turning egomaniacal, I’m being serious. When I started out drawing my biggest problem was smudged and old paper which I had to clean up and touch up on my computer to make presentable. Over time, I got less sloppy and learned to keep my paper clean and avoid sketchy lines, leaving my comics crisp and clean. It wasn’t until I got new paper that this problem became much more frequent though. My only guess is that my scanner used to think my old comics were junk or something and scanned every single flake of dust on my paper just to make sure it got what I wanted, but now that my drawings are clear and it knows what to pick up, it just goes for that.

To test this out I decided to be less careful than usual with my current comics. I let my hands smudge and dent the paper slightly, I made extra sketchy lines more reminiscent of my older comics, and I did minimal erasing. Sure enough, it became the first comic in over a month to not be scanned with extra contrast and intensity, so I may be onto something. So what does this mean? It means if I draw messy my scanner detects every stray pencil mark and forces me to clean it up, but if I draw nice and clean then my scanner politely ignores the smudges and goes right for the comic and cleans it up for me. This is good right? …right?

Well alas, every silver spoon lines werewolves (or something like that). If you look at my most recent comics you may notice two things. One, things are randomly faded out ever so slightly. This bugs me to no end because sometimes I have to go in and redo darker lines on top of the old ones because the scanner didn’t pick them up. I’m grateful I no longer have to erase things digitally, but now I’m left with random empty spaces. I’ve learned to draw lines thicker to avoid this for the most part, but it bugs me how I have to change my drawing method to meet the demands of my picky scanner.

Second, certain things seem darker. In response to the above problem, I’ve had to make really dark lines. This is especially apparent with things that are shaded in. If I don’t go over shaded in spots like five times and make them a LOT darker than they need to be, then they end up looking like chalky zigzag lines instead of a solid black colour. Having panel edges appear slightly thinner or faded out is one thing, but this looks absolutely hideous.

So in the end, I’ve just replaced one piece of work with more work. The good news is no one seems to mind the scanner’s auto-editing, so I guess you guys are more trustworthy of technology than paranoid ol’ OCD me. And on the plus side, making things darker as I draw them is a lot less work than going over comics and erasing smudges after I draw them. Still, I just don’t like the look of it, so I’ll see what to do. For now, you can rest easy that I have one less thing to rant about, meaning from now on I’ll be forced to blog about something more interesting. Hooray.

This lengthy explanation of useless problems that have no real solution has been brought to you by lolis. Love them.

Welcome Back Boils and Ghouls

How’s everyone doing? Hope you had a nice New Year’s. Unfortunately my annual break is over and I’m sure several of you are in the same boat. So it’s time to get back to business and see what’s new this year.

  • I’ve switched to a more standard JPEG format for my comics. The first reason is because my comics have gotten larger in file size over the past few months and it’s finally gotten to the point where PNG images have become too tedious to deal with. The second reason is because my image quality has been suffering lately as is. Why? Well…
  • My scanner still gives me trouble. I’ve tried all sorts of stuff to cancel out or prevent certain problems, but in the end I still get faded lines half the time for no particular reason. The fact that rescanning the images doesn’t change anything makes me think it has something to do with my paper. Maybe my scanner just doesn’t like plain white paper anymore. Either way, I need to get it to do it’s job again, so any suggestions would be appreciated.
  • We’re approaching our 200th comic. I know we’ve covered a lot of milestones lately, but now it’s time for me to really get serious and get a bunch more readers. I know from experience that a lot of potential readers will decide if something’s worth their time just by looking at the archives, and mine’s starting to get a little intimidating. Not everyone has time to read 200 comics, so chop chop, let’s move it people!
  • Regarding me personally, I’m still going through my usual depression, but I can’t let it get in the way of FI’s progress at such a crucial point. I’ve got plenty of cookies to keep me going for now, so don’t expect me to get too moody with my pencil.
  • Golbjr the Omnipotent is having a birthday soon, so I want everyone to be on their best behavior on the 13th. I will not accept any more embarrassments like last year.
  • I really need to make more Concentrate and Cocktail. I failed to meet my Concentrate goal for last year, so it’s really time to shape up. Some encouragement would really help though.

And that’s all we’ve got to start off 2011. Let’s try not to fall too far behind people. Everyone spread the love of Fruit Incest and especially spread the love of lolis.

Annual Fruit Break

by Miss Hedgey on December 22, 2010 at 9:34 PM
Posted In: Juice

Hello everyone. As some of you may remember I took a short break from comics last Christmas, and I plan to keep that tradition. One of my goals is to never miss an update outside of this one Fruit Break, and I’m glad I accomplished that this year, making that one whole year of no missed update days. I don’t plan to break that same resolution this year (though my other resolution to own land in Canada may not work out).

Fruit Incest has quieted down. I’ve quieted down. Busy busy I am, with lots of depressing stuff that makes it a bit hard to go out there and advertise to three or four people at a time, so if anyone wants to get me something for Christmas, make it some extra views. Things have gone way too quiet around here lately.

So everyone take care. I’ll be back after one update week, so I’ll be seeing you next year. Everyone enjoy your Christmastime and be sure to love your lolis.

It’s my birthday today. I know most of you wont read this the day it’s uploaded, but it’s my birthday. Today is a special day where your Miss Hedgehogy gets plenty of brownies and I am too giddy to not announce it as much as I can. Shower me with your love, but remember to love your lolis as well.
