Chocolate Fountain Anniversary

Fruit Incest has been around a long time. Four years, in fact. And as such, it’s time we kick start the traditional chocolate fountain anniversary. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if I was gonna make it. I had so many plans for this year that I wanted to get done but only with a vague idea of when and how to do them. Before I knew it it was already August and I was having to count out how many comics I have in each story arc just to make sure I’ll have enough room to start one for the anniversary and Christmas. In the end it worked out alright, but those pages add up quick, so it never hurts to plan ahead. Especially more than I did.

All in all, I think we had plenty of good arcs done during the past year, and although there’s some stuff I didn’t have time to get around to, that’s just more stuff for next year when we celebrate what is traditionally known as the creme brulee anniversary in most parts of the world. Hopefully things keep getting better from here on out. I don’t have much more to say aside from thanks to everyone who’s read the comics so far and I hope y’all enjoy more to come.

Let’s wish ourselves luck and get ready for some more annual fun! And as always, we’ll remember to love our lolis too.

On paper, Fruit Incest seems to have done well. The 600th comic has been uploaded and our fourth year anniversary will be in a month. Not every comic can claim to make these accomplishments. Unfortunately, anyone who’s been around a while knows things are never that convenient for me.

For on, I’m starting to get to larger comic ideas that I’m not sure I’m ready for, but I have the experience and time to finally attempt them, so all I can do is wish myself luck. The site itself isn’t looking too great, with the Concentrate section being especially useless since I never managed to get any of what I wanted done…well, done. And it’s no secret that Fruit Incest is still mostly unknown, and hardly anyone checks the place out. As always, I appreciate everyone who does, especially you usuals. You guys keep me going, and I’m trying my best to get more of y’all out there so you can enjoy our lovely blue tinted comics. Until then, I’m still relying on you guys, but I thank you for everything.

It’s a rather small and uneventful 600th comic special, and things are still feeling a little down in the dumps, but we’ll pull through! Here’s to more success and I hope you all learn to love your lolis very much.

I don’t have much use for this little news corner, but for those checking it out, yes, I’m still doing these annual Pokemon specials. I’ve long since developed a little shame for my original Pokemon designs, and I’d probably prefer to stick with Pokemon canon, but my first Pokemon special was one of the first major story arcs I drew, and I still have a special place for our original kid trainers here in the not-so-FIniverse.

If anyone’s not so accustomed to Fruit Incest history here or just checking out old Cocktail posts, this year’s special is definitely a nice start and a good sign of what’s to come in later years, cause I’ll always have room for Pokemon, no matter how much it varies from the usual FIniverse content here.

Let’s hope for many more years and Pokemon, cause few things deserve as much love as Pokemon does, aside from lolis of course. Always love your lolis.

A Tad Bit Too Late

Well apparently I haven’t had any news since December, and that was mostly just me wishing people a Happy New Year. Things haven’t been getting done at the pace I hoped for, but we recently finished a big story arc. The comics are coming out relatively smoothly, and to celebrate our improvements, I even updated the somewhat outdated About page for the first time in a while. Hopefully the place is finally gonna be appealing to potential new readers, so long as I can actually get any here.

I’m working hard, but not hard enough. Fruit Incest has a ways to go, and I’m hoping we can all get some attention and introduce my stuffs to anyone looking for a cute comic to read, cause I’m proud of what we’ve been getting done so far and hope to keep improving. As always, I appreciate all the support and word spreading I can get from any of you with friends who like comics and hope we can only get more from here on out. I haven’t been too active this year, but I’ll work on getting you all kinds of cool stuff to enjoy.

In the meantime, continue to have fun, tell your friends, and remember to love your lolis like always folks.

Happy Baseball!

Well, it’s almost time for the new year, and as always, I’m thinking of where I can take my comics and how I can get more people to enjoy it. Looking back, I think 2012 is the biggest improvement we’ve had so far, and by a long shot too! I’m not just saying that cause things were still crappy by the end of 2011.

Long story arcs are much more frequent and have become my focus while simple one-shot comics fill up space in between, rather than the other way around. I’m glad to say my artwork has actually gotten better (though I’m afraid to say I wont be doing any giant New Years mural thingy this year). The fact that stories like our current Christmas one have become regular enough that I no longer had anything to upload into the Cocktail section for Christmas is kind of a good thing too I guess. I even cleaned up the slight a little bit here and there, though not by much. All in all, I’m proud of what I’ve got done so far and wish to continue this trend over the next year.

Mark my words, one of these days, Fruit Incest will be something people will be proud of reading, and not just because I feed you guys hollow, flavourless, Internet-based cookies either. Thank you to everyone who’s been with me all this time and continue to enjoy our lovely Fruit adventures, as well as to everyone else who stopped by along the way. Let’s hope for an awesome end to a nice year and look forward to what 2013 has to offer (aside from not being a nice even number like 2012 was…).

Thanks again, have fun, and love ALL your lolis, folks!

Look at all this dust!

Hey everyone. I did a few changes around the site. Most of them are so small you probably didn’t even notice, but at least some of the things that have been bothering me a while are cleaned up finally. I’m no site design expert, but at least I have the place looking decent enough for now.

I’d still like to make the menubar over the on the left a little more active, but I have no idea what could go there. My monthly archives list got too long, and anything else that would fit in that space is either useless or tacky looking. Oh well, little by little.

Still haven’t done much to get any new readers, not that I have many ideas. I could try ads again, but again, hell if I know any good places that I can afford. Work is so frustrating when you can’t even do it. But we’ll get there someday! And when we do, we’ll have all the lolis we’d ever want to love. The lolis must be loved folks.

Meaningless Pigeon Anniversary

October 13th, 2012 | by Miss Hedgey
Posted In: Juice

As we all know, the third anniversary is the traditional meaningless pigeon anniversary. The time where film directors throw in symbolic birds to represent our emptiness or something. I guess it’s appropriate then, because I’m officially celebrating Fruit Incest’s third anniversary and I have plenty of meaningless emptiness.*

For starters, we have the usual “Miss Hedgey is depressed” post regarding how I kinda don’t like how little has been accomplished in three years. The site still barely gets any viewers despite all my few readers being super sweethearts, and I’m still fresh out of ideas and feeling the stress of life and making nice comics. Don’t worry about me though guys, cause I’m doing my best to pull through. As soon as I finish writing this I’m gonna make myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to cheer myself up, so I’m good. I still would appreciate any help I can get though, so hopefully we can get a nice big following soon enough.

On top of my own pigeon symbolized emptiness, we’ve got some nice city doves over in the FIniverse. Last year I kinda just did a two part comic to celebrate and that was it, but it had a nice Little Miss Tomato/Bell moment, so we’re starting off with something similar this year. I’ve got an idea for what to try out which we’ll see in the next few weeks, so look forward to that. I also apologize in advance for the lack of funnies this special might have, but it’s FI’s birthday. It’s allowed to try something new. Just pretend everyone’s wearing cream pies on their faces if it bothers you.

Once again, let’s hope for some good best luck and always remember to love our lolis this year.

*By the way, the meaningless pigeon thing isn’t just a joke. I seriously named these landmarks ahead of time and happened to notice the sudden meaningless pigeon moments around here right as I began typing this. I think this means good news for the chocolate fountain anniversary next year!

Practically Made of Trees

October 3rd, 2012 | by Miss Hedgey

Fruit Incest was set up and began over the course of the first two weeks of October, so I like to treat the whole month as the anniversary seeing as there’s too many different days that could potentially serve as the official anniversary date. I’ve got….something planned, you know, for the whole third anniversary planned out. I’ll save those details for later though. For now, I wanna start off our meaningless pigeon anniversary month with a little message.

Recently I’ve had to make a stunning realization that I’ll probably live longer than five years from now, and in that realization, I’ve had to admit one thing: I don’t want to do Fruit Incest forever. For now I’ve got several years of material, but who’s to say where I’ll be in five to ten years? Whether our last FIniversary be our fifth or our tenth or our fifteenth, I feel like I now have a time limit I didn’t before, and it’s entirely possible that I could be in my 30s someday, with no new audience or following, leaving poor Fruit Incest to go out as quietly as it came. I’m not getting any younger either. 20 is like the new 50 in Internet years after all!

So what’s this depressing midlife crisis mean? Well, it means that I want now more than ever to get noticed. I want Fruit Incest to be a name people know about in obscure corners of the Internet. And more importantly, I want Fruit Incest to be the first in what could possibly be a real career rather than just a comic I do while unemployed (man I suck at finding a job don’t I?). I know no one ever reads these, but it’s still something that’s on my mind more as both me and the comics get older throughout these slow years. I know lots of you guys have recommended me and shown me to some friends, but I still appreciate every bit of luck and attention I can get for our fruity little FIniverse. Any help is definitely appreciated.

You can show your appreciation by sharing some muffins with me and remembering to love your lolis everyone.

Alphabetized Potatoes

Hey, check it out, we’ve got tags now! It probably would’ve been better if I just did this earlier and put it in with the last Cocktail post, but hey, nice little tags are nice. Plus, this means you can look back and learn the names of certain characters you never cared about. Sounds great right?

Like my new Concentrate page (which I’m already falling behind on), this should make things a little easier for new readers. Not that I have any new readers, mind you. I’m still working on that. So far we have none. Any of you got any bright ideas? My failure has reached its limit it seems, so I’ll just try my best to draw attention to myself as obnoxiously as possible.

Everyone enjoy the newly organized comics, even though I probably messed up on some of them, and as always, remember to love your lolis.

This is what we taste like.

Hey guys, it’s a good thing I never update the Concentrate section, cause it’s been down for a couple of weeks. And when I say down, I mean I deleted everything. But don’t worry, I’ve turned my Deviantart page into my official crappy old drawings dump if you ever want to see my old shames.

If you want actually decent work though, you’ll note our fancy new Concentrate page has some nice new bios of some sort. Go on, click that link there to the side. This message will be waiting for you when you’re done looking. The Cocktail section enjoys all the company it can get as well. I don’t have much now, but I’ll be making new ones whenever I have free time to fill it out with your favourite Fruit Incest celebrities. I’m very lazy though, so be sure to nag me and force me to draw your favourite characters first, like any decent fan would. I’ll be uploading them all on Tumblr as well, in case you don’t want to randomly check the page every few weeks.

I’ve also got another surprise waiting, but that one might take a while. Not for any particular reason. I could probably get it done in one afternoon, but you know how lazy I get. As you may have guessed, all these changes are for the benefit of any new readers. I’ve got five second bios and I’ll be making my lamer corners of the Fruit Incest archives easier to navigate soon. It’s a perfect time to nag your friends into reading my stuff and call them lazy bastards when they make excuses not to! I’ll be doing my best, so let’s give it our all, give me your nice brownie-based wishes of good luck, and remember to always love your lolis folks!

To The Library!

Hey everybody! Guess where I’m posting from? It’s not my house if that’s where you’re thinking! It turns out I’m gonna be stuck without Internet for at least half a week. Isn’t that fun?! I managed to sneak around town (and y’all know how I LOVE going outside!) so that I could get the next two comics uploaded, but it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to get around to comments and Tumblr stuff (not that I do much Tumblr stuff, but I WAS planning something now that we’re nearing the end of the Toffeetown arc…).

Thankfully no one ever misses out on much around here, and I managed to go on a country-wide drive without Internet once, so I think I can handle it. As long as the comics go up then everything’s great! On an unrelated note, I noticed I tend to get depressed more easily without the Internet to distract me, so maybe I should spend this week working on that. Maybe I’ll get some fresh air for once (spoiler alert: I wont).

Either way, this is as good an excuse as any to use my lonely little Cocktail section, so just consider this an emergency heads up just in case and remember to love your lolis everyone.

What is this week of ends you speak of?

May 19th, 2012 | by Miss Hedgey

Okay, so for starters, let me clarify that I am no professional. A professional would have known that sometimes, even if you work full time, you can’t get everything done in one day. After working for over 10 hours straight, I didn’t even come close to finishing half of what I planned for my glourious 400th comic. I wasn’t planning on making this entire story arc in colour, but I wanted the intro to be in colour, because that’s the entire purpose of the fourth panel there.

When drawing this, I woke up, went to do some grocerie shopping and eat lunch, came home for a quick shower, and then spent the entire day working on the comic. This was a big comic. I’d have been pressed for time just doing it in my usual blue and white vision. Hell, I had to rush just to get those last panels shaded in blue at the very least. It wasn’t until I began colouring the big panel that I realized it just was not possible to do a full, in-colour, fully shaded, giant comic page like this one in just one day. Drawing comics like this requires full time work! It’s no wonder many webcomics have such poor schedules.

Speaking of schedules though, in the end, I had to get the bare minimum done. I needed some colour, and I barely squeezed it in with my poor paint job. Even though it would take at least another day to do everything I had planned, I could still sacrifice a few hours past midnight to take my time a little bit for that one panel, but I ended up going for a mediocre job done on time than being late for something that still wasn’t up to my expectations. I guess it’s easy to tell where my priorities are.

Either way, I’m definitely not trying this again anytime soon. Like I said, doing full comics requires full time, and seeing as I don’t even have a real job at the moment, I can’t even think about drawing comics full time. I can barely get by as it is! I’m just not cut out for the big leagues I guess, but I try dammit! This certainly isn’t the first time I screwed up a milestone comic, but 400 comics is still an accomplishment, so it’s something at least.

Here’s to another good run of comics, and hopefully ones where I learn my lessons the easy way. Wish me luck and remember to love your lolis folks.

Junk Approximation

So I’m thinking of cleaning up the site a bit, by which I mean getting rid of useless things I don’t use. One of them being this whole cocktail section. Of course, I haven’t decided anything yet, but I never really use this whole section, and when I do on occassion, it’s usually just to expand on something I already say in the comic blog. The Concentrate section could also use a bit of a cleanup, but again, I haven’t decided on anything.

This would all be easier if I had an actual community of fans instead of just a couple of buddies who read my stuff. Then I might have more options. For now, I’m just being bugged by the wasted space around here, which is really saying something when you consider this site has much less non-comic stuff than most webcomic sites. OCD counter indeed…

Just to check up on how many people read this, please put “muffin” in any comments and remember to love your lolis.

And Beyond

January 24th, 2012 | by Miss Hedgey

Alright, so I just finished another part of the big crazy story arc I keep slipping in and out of, and with that done for now, I’d like to say I plan to step up my game now. Yes, I know I always say that, but this time I mean it. While writing this “chapter” I basically planned out most every future chapter I have in mind for this, meaning I now have no excuse not to do more story arcs every once in a while. On top of this, get this, I got a Tumblr thingy now. I know every time I get these things just for getting more attention it never works, but this time I’ve actually been using it! So far I’ve gotten myself in the habit of drawing on a semi-daily basis, which is good for me, and maybe for you guys if you care about that, but it’s good for the comic because it helps me improve on a few skills…maybe.

So I no longer have excuses for being lazy. I have to shape up and live up to the expectations I forced myself into, so expect me to actually try with this year’s comics. I hope everyone enjoys more Fruit Incesty adventures and remembers to love their lolis.

In the Eyes of the Ranger

January 11th, 2012 | by Miss Hedgey
Posted In: Juice

So I’m starting another part of this Folklorist/Four Overlords/Mob Maid story arc thingy, which aside from the Santa Sarah storyline, which pretty much ended three times by now, is the only continuous story arc in the FIniverse. The fun thing about this story arc is that I’m forced to upload them in order, so by the time I finally get around to doing one, I have the next three or so parts vaguely planned out in my head, so I can try out some slightly less lame plotlines and writing.

Still, I really should do these more often, since I keep putting story arc comics on hold whenever I get too lazy. I know nobody reads these, but if anyone stumbles upon this and feels like motivating me, then show your appreciation by giving me your crazy theories that probably have nothing to do with my story cause I’m not talented enough to make a story where you can predict what’s gonna happen next.

Who are the Four Overlords? Why does the Folklorist want to go after them? What’s with the Mob Maid stuff? How dare I kill the Companion Cube in the beginning of the story? Gimme your best shot and love your lolis while you’re at it!
