Fruit Incest: Despite everything, it’s still here.

Triangular Fruit Anniversary

October 22nd, 2022 | by Miss Hedgey
Posted In: Juice

Fruit Incest is still around somehow, and probably less popular than ever with each new year. Despite this, updates are still on the horizon. I know I took a “break” from those, but hopefully the bios being updated will be worthwhile in the long run. At least the site will feel less incomplete. We’ll do our best to get back to regular comics as soon as possible though.

In other news, there is still no news. Fruit Incest has been around since 2009. It is very slowly but gradually approaching an end-point, since I can’t do this forever. Given that it takes me years to make any meaningful life changing decisions, I’ve had to put thought into what I plan to do with the future. Making webcomics feels less viable than it used to, and lord knows I don’t know how to make them profitable and/or juggling them well with part time jobs. MissHedgey has a future elsewhere, in other media creation, and it feels pretty far away, but you never know what’ll change between now and then. Makes you think.

Thanks again for anyone still reading. I still got some fight left in me, and I’ll provide all the free art and possible entertainment I can. Here’s to a more productive year ahead of us as we march toward the Animal Themed Pillows Anniversary.

Spicy Peanut Butter Sauce Anniversary

Posted In: Juice

It’s that time of year again. The time where I leave some archived recap of the nothingness that has happened in the past year. 12 years and still going. More or less the same audience. Probably slightly smaller than its peak. Fruit Incest is still moving along. Silently. Unnoticed. But if you’re here reading it anyways, then thank you. By this point, I mostly just draw for myself, but if there’s anyone else reading and enjoying some of the comic, then that makes it worthwhile.

There’s not much news. The bio pages are becoming increasingly outdated, so I’d need to update them first, let alone make more. Some extra buffer was made this year, so I’m prepped for emergencies or just taking a week off to draw other stuff. But for the most part, things are still chugging along. Sometimes I’m curious what people would be expecting for the future if there was more audience and people to discuss the comic with. What are y’all looking forward to? I hope more than nothing. I got expectations to meet, as small as they are.

For now though, thank you for checking out, and I hope everyone’s having a good year, now and in the future. Not the past though. The past sucks. Unlike next year, with the special Triangular Fruit Anniversary.

Peanut Butter Cookies Anniversary

Hey, guess who forgot to prepare a blog post in advance? Guess who forgot there even was a news blog. It’s a rather outdated thing to have at this point, but the page would feel so empty with one less button on the side. Fruit Incest is stuck where it is, and that’s how it’s developped. I’ll have to work harder at future proofing my later works, X years from now.

For now though, it’s the 11th anniversary month. No special comics or updates. No new plans. Just another year gone by with no real audience gain. I suppose I should work harder to try and get lucky. Real comic make their own luck. That is the fate of webcomics though. We’ll see where it goes, but for now, it’s a nice little side project I update in the comfort of my home. To anyone still around, and anyone we may have lost along the way in this rough year, here’s to some more fond memories. Remember to love your lolis. Like, actually. Hug children. Make them feel loved. It’s a rough time for them too.

I’ll see you next year for the Spicy Peanut Butter Sauce Anniversary.

Ominous Nondescript Cube Anniversary

Did you know that it was exactly ten years ago that I started drawing comics for the Internet? Don’t check, cause nobody should see my early work. Just take my word for it. But that’s a very long time to draw things! Especially given that I only started cause I wanted something to do after finishing school. It took a few years for me to get in the rhythm, but once I did, I got a nice story planned out. Ten years later, here we are.

I doubt many people will end up reading this. By now, my complaints of the difficulties in finding an audience are rather old, and I’ve done very little to promote myself. Fruit Incest has cemented itself as something people might binge later on down the line rather than as it gets updated, but for those of you here, thank you for reading, and definitely wish me luck!

I’m not sure what I’ll be drawing come ten years from now, but the first ten years as a webcomic artist have been fun. I’ve run out of ways to celebrate comic anniversaries, but it’s still a nice number to have. Here’s to the eleventh year going well, as we eventually approach the Peanut Butter Cookies Anniversary. Until then, keep reading, and keep happy, and as always, love your lolis, folks.

Fluffy Sweaters Anniversary

It’s a very cozy time for a very cozy number. Fruit Incest has been going on for nine years. We’re approaching a decade of constant updates read by the many readers I’ve accumulated over the years. All five of you.

This past year we’ve seen the end of Project Wonderful, and the effects on my brain of being unemployed and locked alone in a room for most of that time. There have been the occasional ups and a lot of downs, but the naughty fruits keep coming. I’d like to thank everyone who’s around to read this and all future comics. This next year will definitely be one of the years in Fruit Incest history, and y’all made it happen. Thanks! Legitimately!

Maybe things will get better. Maybe there’ll be more readers someday. There’s not a lot of options to really get my name out there at the moment anymore, but it’s all still good and clean fun for everyone involved. Hopefully everyone has their fluffy sweaters ready and warm, as you wish me luck for next year, when we hit the big 1 0, aka, the Ominous Nondescript Cube Anniversary. Enjoy the comic, and continue to love your lolis, folks.

Capitalism Has Failed Us

Hey y’all. I’m pretty sure nobody ever checks this part of the site anymore, what with the zero news that has ever been relevant, ever. Still, some of you older readers might have noticed the top of the site seems a bit emptier. If you haven’t heard, Project Wonderful has shut down, and its ad servers are no more.

For me, this is a terrible thing, cause that Project Wonderful ad-space has always been the potted plant I put in the corner to keep it from looking so empty. I’m not sure what to do with that space anymore. You’re all welcome to offer suggestions. The site layout has always been a bit plain, but I like it that way. I don’t know what the kids are into though. Maybe they like buttons or something.

At this point, click ads are mostly dead aside from Google ads, and that’s just a whole other mess on its own. I do feel a twinge of sadness though. I didn’t get much use out of PW advertising, but I have discovered a few hidden gems through those ad boxes. A lot of smaller comics relied on PW to get attention, especially since, again, Google kind of dominates all other ads, and they don’t care ’bout no comics.

I don’t know if this affects much by this point. Webcomics isn’t anywhere near as widely growing a community as it was a decade ago. Hiveworks is the closest thing to a striving community in the industry, and that’s yet another can of worms that seems to be slowly losing out to its own inefficiency. Webcomics are hard, but we try our best. To anyone reading this, thanks for checking out Fruit Incest. We, and by we I really mean this time, all webcomics, couldn’t be here without you. Spread the word. Let your friends know what you read. And keep comics alive. All of course while remembering to love your lolis.

Toasted Honey Nut Anniversary

October 1st, 2017 | by Miss Hedgey
Posted In: Juice

Eight years. Eight years, man! Fruit Incest is getting old, and has long since stopped needing an update blog, seeing as I only seem to ever use this for anniversaries. Nonetheless, it’s a time to celebrate. To think of all that’s been done so far. All the growth and changes and new colours picked up over the years, as this mediocre comic continues to be read by a small handful of people. I hope you’re all still having fun, and I hope we continue to have more of you.

Admittedly, I’ve done squat for trying to get things back on track. The comic hasn’t been advertised in years, my buffer’s constantly near running out, and I even got on anti-depression meds. Not the best year on my end, but I’ll continue to do my best, cause the comic isn’t just for me. It’s for all of you out there, desperate to find the answers to the greatest Fruit Incest mysteries, like what kind of underwear everyone wears.

I don’t have much to say this year, other than once again, thank you all! I appreciate everyone who’s left a comment or two and lets me know that there are some who enjoy a cute, quick adventure through the mysterious land I’ve created. Maybe by the time of next year’s Fluffy Sweaters Anniversary, we’ll all be in better shape. I wish a good luck to y’all, and a healthy reminder to always and still love your lolis.

Cosplaying Puppy Anniversary (and some bad news…)

October 2nd, 2016 | by Miss Hedgey
Posted In: Juice

Well everyone, we’ve truly hit it. Fruit Incest turns seven this month, and we’ve got another anniversary comic to celebrate. It’s been a while, but I’ve finally got some plot popping up amongst all the silly goofiness. It’s been a ride, and unfortunately, here’s where it gets a little bumpy.

As of today’s comic, Fruit Incest will be updating every Sunday and Wednesday. That’s right. Only two pages a week instead of three. It pains me to switch this, and obviously I want to put out as much content as I can, but I’ve sadly reached my breaking point. I do have a job, which recently involved a small promotion and change to my schedule a few months back, and this has made it difficult to keep up with the comic’s schedule on top of everything else. The buffer’s all ran out, currently, and my work schedule is erratic and unpredictable. The best option is to give myself three days to finish a page instead of two, which will thankfully make those full sized pages more manageable, but I understand this is one less page than before each week, so I’ll work hard to make the pages y’all do get extra special.

In terms of other updates, I’ve got a few things that have simply fallen apart as I tried to keep the comic going up until now. The Concentrate page has gone stagnant, and my Tumblr has become rather barren with little extra art. I also haven’t been able to do much to try a advertise the comic in a while, which is where you guys come in. The best way to get a comic out there is with word of mouth, and every read helps make this even more worthwhile, so while I do my best to get everything back up and running, I’d like to ask everyone to please understand and be patient, and maybe see how you could help out here or there.

Rest assured though, I am working hard, and I hope you all enjoy reading the comic still. I wouldn’t be here without all of you, so thank you all for your time and lovely comments. Even you quiet ones are all appreciated, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Here’s to another good year, and another strong wish of love to all your lolis. Hopefully we have a better start next year on the Toasted Honey Nut anniversary.

My Comic is Longer Than Yours

April 14th, 2016 | by Miss Hedgey
Posted In: Juice

Welp, it happened. Fruit Incest has been around for six years and has reached 1000 comics. I’ll try not to be a bummer about how few readers I’ve amassed in that time and just be thankful for everyone who’s read thus far. It’s been a long road and a long trail of cute doodles and agony, but we made it.

There’s not much official to say, as evident by how dead the Cocktail section is. Though I should apologize for the lack of anything notable in so long. I haven’t mentioned this anywhere, but I am currently juggling part time work along with the comic, and that’s led to a few sleep deprived nights. Anything for the comic though! It’s sad to say, but we’re ever so slowly making our way to the end of our fruity adventures here. I don’t plan to rush through that end anytime soon, but it’s there, and it’s looming closer with every milestone.

If you wanna know what’s ahead though, I’m thinking of retiring the alternate universe gag every 50 comics. I’m running out of ones that are actually funny. If I can’t think of a worthy replacement though I might stick with it. Y’all are free to comment on this, the most important thing I have to say today. Also, comment approval is turned off for now. To be honest I have so few people posting comments that I only left that turned on all these years so I could personally see every one of them, but that’s probably a habit I should get myself out of.

I also have a lot of things that just haven’t ever been cleaned up. The Concentrate bios have stagnated due to busy scheduling despite my trying to dish them out at least once a month now, and I can’t guarantee the comic dot issue will be resolved by the time this goes up, but rest assured I’m doing my best. I want Fruit Incest to be a comic a comic worth reading, so I should work a bit harder getting more people interested. As always, it’d be nice to recommend it to your friends or let others know about it, but the bulk of that responsibility’s on me. I’ll do my best and hope everyone continues to read and support the comic with your views. Thank you for your help, folks. It’s always welcome and now’s a good time to open up for suggestions.

For now though, just thanks. We’ve made it a long way, so let’s keep it up, and remember to love our lolis.

Marshmallow Bath Anniversary

September 27th, 2015 | by Miss Hedgey
Posted In: Juice

It’s that time of year again. Fruit Incest came into being during the first few weeks of October, so this year we’re gonna get ready and celebrate our sixth anniversary the next few weeks! Six years is a lot, and we’re still in humble beginnings, but even if nobody ever reads the comic, we’re getting to some big storylines I’ve been holding onto for years. I hope you enjoy the special story we have this upcoming month. It’s another one to hopefully look back on and remember fondly, maybe during next year’s anniversary, the cosplaying puppy anniversary.

Until then, enjoy the comic, share it with friends, do as you wish, cause it’s been a very busy couple of months on my end and I will always appreciate any help that comes my way. I’m not looking forward to the stressful weeks ahead of me, but having people to read the comic and share any enthusiasm they’ve earned for it will definitely help. Every reader helps spread the love, and if there’s one thing we could all need more of, it’s love. Unless it’s lolis. We’ll always love our lolis, right folks?

Free For All! Grab the Coins!

October 31st, 2014 | by Miss Hedgey

If you took the time to explore the new site design (which is old news by now, meaning I’m far too behind on work and apologize for the delay), then you may have noticed some mystery squares in the Concentrate page. Those replaced the old and kind of low budget bio pages, and will now link to the slightly less cheap looking bio pages! As of writing this there’s only three, but I plan to do my best to try and add new ones on a weekly basis. Fruit Incest has over 100 characters, so with luck we’ll have at least a handful of character select icons soon enough.

This is of course to make the place look more appealing to newcomers, not that many show up, but those who check the place out are very much appreciated and I’ll do my best to fix up little touches here and there (like replacing the About images with better looking redos a few weeks ago). I’m going strong but it’s still a slow trek around these parts, so let’s wish me luck and remember to love those lolis, everyone.

Crème Brulee Anniversary

October 2nd, 2014 | by Miss Hedgey
Posted In: Juice

Guess what folks, Fruit Incest has been around for five years. It’s a bit tricky, for those who haven’t been around for long and don’t know, but Fruit Incest didn’t pop up overnight. So the weeks leading up to October 19th have many firsts in this site’s history. As always, I keep things simple by simply making October our anniversary month, so the rest of our royal fruit birthday story will continue alongside it. Not the first, but it’s fine to see them kids again.

I honestly had to rush this arc a bit for a couple of days since I’m running out of story arcs that are important or fitting enough for an anniversary. I guess once you reach five years you run out of things to celebrate with specifically. Oh well, maybe we’ll go back to enjoying the nice fall season with Halloween festivities next year during the marshmallow bath anniversary. Maybe things will change by then. Not much changes around here at Fruit Incest, even if we get an entire site redesign. Still, I’m glad for all you usual readers, as always, and hope I can somehow manage to get even more people to please with my typical fare, so I hope all of you continue to enjoy yourselves and enjoy the seasons. I think they’ll eventually get better for everyone, especially for loli lovers. Remember to love those lolis, people.

The Problems of the Future, Back Where They Belong

August 30th, 2014 | by Miss Hedgey
Posted In: Juice

Howdy folks. If you checked around earlier yesterday you might have seen the place has been cleaned up and in the middle of some redesigns, and after some fiddling around and plenty of work the official new look for Fruit Incest is finally done. It’s still got a fairly simple minimalistic look, which I hope y’all don’t mind.

First and foremost, special thanks goes to Oliver Bareham, aka SuitCase of Bittersweet Candy Bowl fame. He’s been a big help the past few days making little fixes and touchups to the new layout, which he made in the first place…about a year ago. My apologies to him and everyone else for taking so long getting around to this kind of thing, but I’ll do my best to get this kind of work done as soon as possible from now on, and many many thanks to Mr. SuitCase for getting so much done for the site. Everyone send him mental hugs now.

To everyone else, I hope you find the new look to your likings and I want to thank you all for reading the comic. I haven’t gotten anything big done for a while, but I’ll do my best and see how many new readers we can get to see it regularly in the future. Thank you to everyone, and remember to love all of your lolis.

Summer of No Recaps

June 8th, 2014 | by Miss Hedgey
Posted In: Juice

Hello all. It’s been a while since I made a blog post like this, and it’s not hard to see why. Aside from Christmas breaks I have very little need for any announcements to put on here. So I suppose I could just give a half-year review of what’s happened so far.

As is usual for me, there’s not much new things to report. The only new thing I’ve tried outside of making comics was pay for some ad space on other sites for a month, which didn’t boost any real numbers in terms of viewers in the long run, and also proved to be much too expensive to continue past the one-month trial run I did just to experiment, so unfortunately y’all wont see any cute Fruit Incest ads on other webcomics any time soon. Still, welcome to anyone if they stuck around this long afterwards. I’ve seen a couple of new names in the comments lately too, so everyone new around here, I appreciate the views and having your readership. It’s a big honour having people read my stuff and come back for more, so thank you all very much.

As for the comic itself, I haven’t done any major story arcs this year so far, but I’ve done some nice stories that have been in the backburner for a while and have plans for many more in the future. There probably wont be any real news for a while again, but I’m still working to give you comics every week and appreciating any feedback I can get. All you nice folks who stick around really help keep me motivated as much as I can, so I’ll be sure to keep it up and hope I can spread things out to even more people sooner rather than later. Thanks to everyone here, and as always, remember to love your lolis.

Have a Holly Jollies, Suckers!

December 19th, 2013 | by Miss Hedgey
Posted In: Juice

Christmastime is coming, so as I allot myself once a year, I’m taking a one week break to just relax and get stuff done in quiet and peace in the couple days before my family keeps me way too busy to reliably do anything (also my brother got a new cat and is bringing it over this year so I’ll be too busy one way or another playing). I’ll be back before New Years, but I guess now would be a good time to give my year in review since I wont have much released before then.

First off, I’ve said this before, but I am glad I managed to get three whole story arcs done in a row (I made a one-shot for my birthday but that was it). There’s only so many short gags I can make before I run out of stuff to do and I’m glad I finally got to flesh out some stuff I’ve had in the works for a while, even if I’m slowly dreading the story arcs I have in Fruit Incest’s future. The main thing to discuss is getting an anniversary and Christmas arc done which sets up future arcs. I know I joke about my abrupt and bittersweet ending fetish, but I do think I handled some things well, and had I not created a series with 100+ characters and had more than a handful of regular readers I’d almost have people anxious to see the next chapter.

I’m glad with how some stuff came out. I was a bit anxious to get started on some of these last few story arcs and projects, and there’s still more planned that have me even more nervous, but I’m slowly getting to those as I run out of chances to put them off. Hopefully 2014 in general will be full of improvements and new stuff, so I hope everything goes well and that everyone who’s been kind enough to stick around has been enjoying what we’ve been getting lately. Thanks again to everyone who helps out and comments (hiya scared!), and I hope y’all have a nice set of holidays in the next few weeks. If said holidays involve any lolis, be sure to love them lots as well.
